Hyperlapse videos lose so much quality when uploaded to YouTube

I don't know what I am doing wrong, but my 1080 hyperlapse videos look really poor when I've uploaded to YouTube. I thought it was my slowish internet connection that was only showing it at reduced quality, but I played it on my daughters very fast connection today and it was the same.

I've attached 2 screen shots of the same frame at 1.21, one is the original rendered video that I uploaded to YouTube, and the 2nd is the video played back on YouTube at 1080. This happens to all my hyperlapse videos, they start OK at 1080 but within a minute or so, the quality degrades like this. Of course I've waited until YouTube has processed the video at the higher resolutions.

This doesn't seem to happen with my 4k drone videos, only with my hyperlapse ones.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not getting very many views and now I know one reason why.

I know that for 1440P and up youtube uses VP9 codec and looks better than the avc1 codec used on 1080p videos and down. Maybe thats whats happening here, not sure.

Thanks Lola for replying. I can't figure it out - maybe it's frame rates, I've just noticed that my latest 4k video starts OK and then descends to about 360 quality for much of it.
I'm testing with different frame rates as someone said that 60fps fixes it - I tried it and it's a little better, so I'm trying 120fps as well. I think it must be something to do with hyperlapse where frames are not as similar as in standard speed video - less common ground between them. Perhaps YouTube should think about a hyperlapse setting where it processes them a bit more carefully?

Hmm ok. Does the hyperlapse look good on your pc when you watch them not on youtube? Like it looks good after you edit but then when you upload it doesnt look good on youtube?
