How to word and put the best tags on your videos

So I know this might seem a bit of an easy question but I was just really wanting to know how everyone does there tags on there videos?

Do you put an absolute heap of tags or how many do you usually put? How do you word your tags?

Basically just needing some guidance really, would be very grateful to anyone who replies :).

I usually start with some research. Look at what the most popular search words are that are related to the topic I made a video about. Generally I try to include those keywords in the title, description and the tags.

Fill up the tag box with the most tags possible, and put stuff u think people will be searching( but make sure its relevant to the video)
 
Relevancy is key, the Youtube system determines if the tags are relevant to the video and if they are then you are boosted up than a normal tag. Another being there is an order of importance the most important tags are the first few as those are key tags and are what are used most to be found in search queries. One thing I can advise you is do not put your name as a tag, if people want to search your name they'll find your channel that's just a waste of characters that could be used for another tag. Sometimes you need a little bit of originality in tags because if you use the same tags as everyone else your video will just be covered up by those who are larger than you.
 
Don't just use one word tags like 'Fifa' Or 'Xbox' as there must be billions of other videos with the exact same tag. Think of what you would search in the search box to find content similar to your video and then put that as a tag and think of variations of that tag. Also, I always put my channel name as a tag as it usually helps you rank in the suggested videos list on the right hand-side of videos. Hope this helps :)
