I Love YTtalk
Tired of manually entering the same or similar descriptions and tags when you upload your YouTube videos? The YouTube Upload Defaults feature helps with this and makes life a whole lot easier for creators so make sure to use it if you dont already!
The upload defaults feature allows you to set predefined upload defaults so that each time you upload a new video they are already filled in ready for you to make adjustments to them.
To get started with adding your upload defaults visit here under Channel Settings:
https://www.youtube.com/upload_defaults
In here you can create defaults for your privacy, category titles, descriptions, license and all other settings you can tweak after uploading your videos. Setting these will really help you save time and make your uploading process more efficient, instead of spending time adjusting these you could be making your custom thumbnail or even better editing your next video.
To use these effectively I suggest adjusting the following to your own liking/needs, every channel will set these slightly differently:
Privacy - set this to either Private or Unlisted so you dont need to change it from public each time you upload. I have mine on Unlisted as I tend to share some of mine before releasing and Unlisted makes that very easy and quick.
Category - set to the category you normally choose or choose the category most of your videos fall under.
Description - fill this in with any information you repeat in each of your descriptions, this can include your social media pages such as your Twitter and Instagram pages or your YTtalk profile page. If you usually include credit when using free royalty free music you can add the credit here so that you dont need to look around the for the credit. If you use multiple sites such as audiomicro.com music from your network partnership and use audionautix.com for example you could use something like this at the bottom each time:
Audio Credits
==================
Audio file(s) provided by http://www.audiomicro.com
Audio by audionautix.com
This means you needn't be taking extra time once your video has uploaded.
If you own a website or have a website for your channel make sure to promote it within your description and add it into your defaults, I like and recommend this format the most for descriptions:
Title Repeated > Video Description > Website Links > Social Media Pages > Audio Credit
Tags - Many people recommend using default tags here which convey what your videos are usually about, in here I include YTtalk.com, YTtalkTV and things related to the channel and YTtalk website. If you focused only on Minecraft mods you could write Minecraft mods so that it is added each time. This section isnt necessary but you can put it to use if you find it suitable.
Ad Formats - Setting up your ad formats all depends on what you like having yourself on your videos, personally I choose the following two usually but you may opt for them all on:
Overlay in-video ads
- The banner that pops up within your videos at the bottom.
TrueView in-stream ads
- The skippable ads that play at the start of your videos.
Video Language - I have mine set to English, there is no harm in setting this as a default.
Suggest video improvements - I have become secretly insulted that no matter how hard I try to ensure my videos are well lit, YouTube thinks otherwise and decides to nag at me, eventually I switched this to "Never Show Edit Suggestions" and I think you should too unless you rely heavily on YouTubes video editing tools to fix up your videos.
There are a few other settings in there but not so many people will use them such as the license setting and comments/ratings settings but make sure to use them if you find yourself switching them off each time when you upload.
Here's a screenshot of ours for YTtalkTV:
Thanks for reading and I hope this encourages you to use them if you dont already and saves you some time
If you already use them and have any other tips for using them feel free to post them up and I will add them into this post as it could help others out.
