How do I upload an HD video to YouTube?

I want to start uploading HD videos to my YouTube account but when I tried, it didn't work.

I have a video that I recorded on my HD camera. It was shot at HD 1080p. 16:9. When I uploaded it up to YouTube, the highest resolution it went up to was 480p. and the aspect ratio changed to 4:3

What am I doing wrong?

I noticed that when I downloaded a HD 1080p video from youtube, it is a mp4 file which had an amazing clear quality image but the size is small. What is the best method/software to convert a video like that?

what software are you using to edit and finalize your videos? If the software isn't set to 1080p then it won't matter what quality you shot your footage with.

You won't be able to post hyperlink unless you are a VIP member. You have to purchase VIP membership with YTTalk Cash. However, you can still do links as long as it is spam. Take off the http:// part. It is not going to be linkable but people can copy/paste if your link is relevant to the thread.

I m using adobe premiere cs3 but the mp4 file is not *.mp4, it is *.ogg and the image quality is not clear. do u have any specific software which is best for editting and converting video for YT?

Yeah mp4 is the best. Put it in an editing software first, even if you don't edit it put it in one and save in 720 HD or 1080p HD from there, then it'll work.

yep mp4, I dont generally do 1080p since very few people watch it in 1080p from what I know, and it takes forever to render/upload, so I would recommend 720p but thats besides the point. What video editing software are you using? because a lot of them dont do HD by default, although most will adapt the same resolution as the video you import. Just make sure you are rendering it as 1080p because I am pretty sure its not youtube-side.

I use Sony Vegas pro 11, but there must be an option for mp4 file. Try flv if you really can't find it
