How to sync live commentary with gameplay?

Is there a easier way of doing it without either starting the recording at exactly the same time with both programs open or by say something like 'recording in 3,2,1,go......'

I use:
HD PVR with Arcsoft showbiz
Audacity
Sony Vegas

You can try using Open Broadcast Software or try to save for an Elgato Game Capture that can stream to YouTube.

The way most LPers do it, I believe, is to open a menu or something with a cursor and say 'Up, down, up, down' and at the same time, move the cursor or selected item in the corresponding directions. Quick and accurate.

I feel so stupid everytime I do that. But at least it helps.

Hey, I never thought of that! I always make my character jump (if they jump) while saying "jump". Your way seems less demanding!
