How to record a Skype Session/General laptop activity

Hey everyone:

I'm wanting to record a skype call with a friend for my vlog but I don't know what software is available to do that. I have a macbook so it would need to be something that is Mac compatible. I'm sure it exists and I've tried googling but I figured this would be the forum to ask. Shareware would be appreciated but if there is not a free application I'd be willing to pay if you have suggestions. I figure so many people record their game play straight from the laptops there must be something for this. Thanks in advance.

I suggest frapps, I have used it many times to record online gameplay and commentary for my videos with friends. Just have Skype open then start recording with frapps it will record the voice of the chat. If you are wanting it to record say a video chat, I assume you have to have the skype call open on screen, but I haven't tried doing that.

Thanks I'll do a test run tomorrow and let you know if that did it!
 
Unfortunately I have yet to find a Skype recorder that's accurate during gameplay. It's always off for the incomming chat. I would suggest MP3 Skype Recorder, but I'm not sure if there's a MacOS version.

Thanks, I just attempted Fraps and it's Windows only. I'll keep searching.[DOUBLEPOST=1382340984,1382340965][/DOUBLEPOST]I guess I could maybe try recording a Google Hangout instead...
 
Sorry about that, didn't realize it was windows only. Any kind of screen recorder should work. What are you trying to do other than record the call?
 
I've heard some people say QuickTime Pro can do recording stuff? Maybe look into that. I think you have to pay something and not sure if there's a trial. I'm not sure if Quick Time records audio either but if it does both video and audio you can just remove the video if it's not needed.
 
Well also i believe skype it self offers some sort of chat recorder. It is a pay for service, but for skype calls could be the best quality you can get. I haven't tried it tho.

If it's the official app you're talking about I've heard bad things about it. Lots of people seem to have issue with it. For me the trial version wouldn't even record more than 1 sec lol
 
Oh wow lol, well i'm not sure then if you just need the sound of the chat, any screen recorder should work, and I guess try the skype chat recorder trial, otherwise good luck, sorry i couldn't be more help.
