How to match-up audio and video?

CommMatt

Posting Mad!
Well, while I haven't actually tried yet, I'm kind of intimidated...

I'm going to try using Audacity to record mic, then my game-recorder to record my game.

But...

Doubts keep crossing my mind about how I'll ever get the timing of the audio to match with the video.
Any advice or how-to?

Using Windows Live Movie Maker.

What I do is I start both audio and game recording and then il go onto a game menu, pause screen, whatever, and say 1, 2, 3 as i move up or down the menu 3 times. I'll do it probably three times at different speeds just to make sure I'm dead on. Then you can just sync it up in editing :)

Okay, thank you!

clap in front of camera along with a shout. match up point of contact with beginning of clap sound. zoom in if necessary.

Its easy. Hit record on Audacity. Then hit record on your screen cap but snap your fingers in front of the mic at the same time. The spike in audio lines up perfectly with the 0:00 time of your video capture. So just cut the audio at the spike, line them up and you're done.
