How to make your gameplay videos good

Hi! I just wanted to make this small tutorial about how you can make your (commentary) gameplay videos as good as possible when it comes to editing, recording etc. Remember, this is if you are going to do it the "proffessional" way.

Recording:
First of all, you will need a recording software. Do NOT use softwares like Bandicam and Hypercam. It makes the video look like it was filmed with a toaster. I prefer Fraps. It records in full HD, where you can choose how many FPS you want, and has no watermarks. Right now it costs $37. But it is WORTH it.

Editing:
You always want to edit your videos. But for gods sake, please don't use Windows Movie Maker. It is slow and really bad. Yes, it might be expensive, but if you want to make good videos, you will have to get yourself a good editing software. I am using PowerDirector. It is meant to be used for "real life" movie making, but works really well for editing gameplay footage too. It is really easy to use, and renders in 1080p as well as 240p if you want to. Right now it costs around $70 for the deluxe version. Of course you can also use Sony Vegas Pro and other programs like that, but those are much more expensive and much harder to use.

Microphone:
If you are doing gameplay commentaries, you also need a good mic (microphone). Your voice is probably the most important thing in commentary gameplays. Making your voice sound perfect, is kinda expensive, but is the most important thing. Do NOT use a mic like the one on your laptop, it sounds horrible. The microphone you should get is probably either the Blue Yeti or the Blue Snowball. Both of them is around $170.Thats pretty expensive, right?

Overall costs: $280

Being a proffessional Youtube gamer is sometimes kinda expensive
If you have any questions, you can ask me in the comments ;)

how long does it take to receive an answer after applying?
After i sign the contract, how long does it take until im fully partnered?

Well, I kinda meant questions about the thread, but let it go ;)
For me it took about 2 weeks after I signed my contract before I was answered. Overall, it may take about 1-4 weeks. :)

its a great tutorial but some youtubers dont want to spend that much money if they are just starting out and windows movie make is pretty good when your are starting out. i use power director cause i already had it downloaded.

Good tutorial, but for beginners it's really expansive. I don't think people will spend 280$ to begin with commentary. And I started with windows movie maker and it's not that bad as anyone thinks. For a begin it's pretty awesome what you get for free.

Note if you want to save money etc, but still spend money on games. Make budgets!

I think it's best to start out with average equipment and software to see if you really are good at this and if you want to continue making videos. Then gradually you can upgrade your equipment. For example, I started using a Roxio which was a very average game capture device but now that I'm more confident and assured about making gaming videos/commentaries, I got an Elgato :) but either way, this is helpful for any youtuber that has the money and wants to start :D

Fraps is exactly what I use.
VideoPad is a good free editor. It's what I've moved on to from movie maker.
There are cheeper mics out there. My mic isn't perfect but it is good for those just starting out. It's a Dynex desktop mic with a fully adjustable stem and an on/off button. There is a refurbished one on sears' website for $4 and it normally retails for about $15.
You can record without spending a fortune, you just have to be creative and shop around.
