How to make background blurry on my camera?

I have a canon powershot sx50 hs. I am trying to make the background in my videos blurry. My background has a bit of depth, there's a table behind me and then a wall. I am maybe 3 feet away from the table and at least 7 or 8 from the wall. I'm about a foot or 2 from the camera. I tried adjusting the aperture but that doesn't really do much. Is there some special setting? I heard this is easier to do non-powershot cameras, but it should be possible with mine, right? OP's camera doesn't have interchangeable lens iirc.

Try Manually Focusing it.
