How to create a great intro for my videos??

BillyVlogsTV

I Love YTtalk
Hey Youtubers i want to create a great intro in my videos for when i start making videos on my new channel.

I want my intro to be from about 1-10 seconds maximum with awesome club/disco music in the background and i am looking to get my intro to catch my viewers attention from right at the start because i have been told and seen on the internet that the 1st 30 seconds are very very important in YouTube videos and catching the viewers attention!

So i think that's what intros mainly are for: to help get the viewers attention and make the Youtuber/video creators look more professional!

So how do i create a great intro? What software should i get and use to make a intro??

I have never ever created a intro in my videos....

After Effects is a great software for creating intros/motion graphics! That's what I use haha :)

Yeah I've heard a lot of good things about after effects too. I use Sony Vegas to edit my videos and even with these general editing programs you can manage something pretty fancy. I don't really have an intro with my videos, I just do a static effect for a solid 1.274847336 seconds and get the video underway.

A YouTuber Ziovo has two videos on making Intros (it's not letting me link, but just search for Ziovo and then intro in his channel). They're essentially using templates found on youtube for Sony Vegas and Blender, and you replace the default name with your own. I haven't tried these personally since I'm not interested in having an intro, but they looked like simple ways to get one. Might not be quite what you're looking for, but could be a simple solution lol :) good luck!

Never use templates, people will yell at you

Personally, I prefer shorter intros (no more than 8 seconds) that are dynamic and original
Obviously, After Effects is pretty much a "must-have", unless someone else can do your intro for you.
I'd say to avoid fancy "3D sync intros" with lots of shaking and particles. These have become a cheap trend.
If you want to make an intro with only your name on it, try to keep it short (3-4 seconds?)

Finally, I'd say that an intro is not necessary if you want to look profesional.
There are loads of people who usually skip it (including me :p) because it's redundant.
Maybe add a small bit of the video BEFORE the actual intro, something that presents in a catchy and funny way what the viewer is about to see.
Then throw up the intro (because the viewers will already be interested in seeing your content) (example of this technique on "I Hate Everything" channel)

But after all, I have no big experience on youtube whatsoever, just stating my opinion ;)

Ummm why do you say people will yell at me if I use a awesome template for my intro?? :unsure2::unsure2:

Funny enough I was thinking of using a awesome template for my intro which it is quick and easy and the template that I have picked is definitely super good! :)

The problem is that at some point someone will recognize the template you used aaand that's something really unfortunate. Anyone has access to templates, so if you wanted to have an intro in order to look profesional, templates are a bad idea (from my own exprience, at least)

But anyways, it's up to you

You have a great point there!! :)

So is it easy creating your OWN intro?? A great top quality intro?? Is After Effects free and EASY to use??

Well, you have to learn the software before being able to master it.
After Effects isn't free at all, and not "easy" (i mean you need to get used to it)
There are some people out there that create profesional intros, either for free, either for a few $
You can also request a free intro in this forum: yttalk.com/forums/requests.86/
Good Luck!
