How to add transparent background Gifs to video?

Hi Everyone,

Was wondering if anyone knows how to add a gif to a video? I know how to add overlays and make them move but I've seen that some people have added gifs with transparent background. Like a love heart that beats, or moving animals.
I'm using Imovie version 10.0.3 when ever I add a gif to the video it is a picture instead of moving :(
Also I can't seem to get it to appear with transparent background, despite being downloaded on a transparent background.

Any help is much appreciated :)

No idea for imovie. In Sony Vegas it's as simple as drag and drop I found out in my latest vid when I threw a gif into it. iMovie may simply not support editing with gifs, but not sure.

Hey!

A gif can't be transparent there will always be pixelation and different abnormalities.

What you are looking for is an animated greenscreen object!
This is in fact something I am going to make a tutorial on today.

But for now just search chroma key objects on YouTube and find a playlist with different things.

Good luck!
Hit me up IF you need further help.

(Sorry for the grammar I am on my phone)

Regards
Kevin

I found this tutorial for imovie, not as simple as drag and drop but it should still give you the required results for what you're doing. Still pretty quick to the point anyways...

Sony Vegas on mac requires a bunch of stuff which is beyond my monkey brain pay grade.

Another quick question...
Ive found and downloaded some title chroma key videos. BUT the issue I'm facing is I don't know how to add my own text to them.
The text that comes with Imovie doesn't sit in the right position and can't be moved. Is there a way around this?
Thanks :)

I'm not using iMovie and I never have to be honest. But I am sure there is a function you are over-looking.

Try searching - move text in i movie
And you will probably fond what you are looking for.

Goodluck!

Thanks for all your help! I think I've pretty much got it figured out now :)
Kind of over did the green screen feature in my new video, but I couldn't help myself, its so much fun!
Thanks again for your help with this!!!
