How peoples make money on youtube without Ads

I have seen youtubers with lots of hits & followers but there is no Ad during the video. I am not sure how they make money without ads running during the video?

Is there is something else on which youtube pay you based on number of views on your videos?

Either they're not in it for the money or possibly use other avenues for income... Patreon, iTunes (if they're musicians), various merchandise (shirts, key chains, etc), Amazon Associates, link to their own webpage/ blog with other ads, etc... many other options- and most larger channels seem to focus on a bunch of them.
