Hello.

Someone wants to hire me to edit videos for him. I'll have to make 10min compilations.

How much money should I ask for it? Should I ask money per finished video/per hour/etc. ?

Honestly it depends how good you are and how much work you're going to have to do to get it down to a 10 min compilation. If each 10 min compilation is going to require you sifting through multiple hours of raw footage then you'll need to take that into consideration when you set a price.

charge per video, I would ask for a good amount considering its 10min, but that depends how complicated the video has to be

Thanks for the answers. My job would be looking through Twitch VODs and putting clips together, doing cuts and maybe some easy-to-do FX here and there. I'm still not sure how much to charge.

It honestly all depends how much you value your time and your work. Like for me, I'm rubbish at editing so I'd charge bottom dollar for my editing services cause it would probably take longer than necessary and the work itself would be bad. So price yourself based on your own feelings, it doesn't really matter what other people are charging.

Have a look on sites like upwork.com to see what the going rate is. Then it all depends on your experience and how much you value your time.

Entry level professional film & tv editors make around $25/hour of their time. Scale your fees around that based on your skill and experience.
