How much does ad blocking affect the revenue?

Hi guys,

I'm new here and I registered for this topic to discuss: How much does ad blocking affect the revenue the creator gets from YouTube at the end of the day? - Considering most of the ads the average creator gets are monetized based on the auction-principle.

To make it short: If many people are blocking ads - which they actually do - doesn't this decrease the number of available ad-slots and therefore increases the value of these slots? So YouTube and the creator are getting more money from a single ad? (At least if advertising is demanded enough.)

How much can this compensate ad blocking? Have you any ideas?

Thanks!

Daniel

People who use AdBlocks will most likely not click on ads anyway. So you don't loose the bigger payments just because these block ads.
As some videos still play without ads I guess that there are currently more than enough ad slots. Earnings dropped significantly when monetization became availyble for the masses. So I agree with you that Ad blockers don't effect revenue negatively for most of us despite probably some very big players who are targeted exclusively by advertisers.

Thanks for your reply! I agree with you, but I'm not sure if these people really wouldn't click on ads (or less than those who don't even think of blocking advertising completely). But to be honest I have no evidence, it's just theory.

Anyone else has thoughts or ideas?

If you don't know google have worked out how to bypass adblocker so now people with it still get the ads..so lets hope they all accidentally click on them haha.

Yes, I noticed that! But: Did anyone experienced any changes in their Analytics?

The only way that adblockers would push up the value of ads is if all slots were taken up and they were competing for the slots. Like previously mentioned that videos play without ads mean that there are plenty of ad slots still available therefore the value of the slots don't change but you will of course be losing money by the people who use adblocker not seeing those ads
