How much do subscribers actually matter for YT 2015?

Idk. But I think subs sound more impressive. I feel like you are more likely to get a brand deal, sponsorship, invited to an event, etc if you have more subs vs views. Whether they actually matter, like I said I really don't know. It is kind of weird because people might sub to someone and then never use their YouTube account again, so you never know.[DOUBLEPOST=1429407480,1429407415][/DOUBLEPOST]And I have so few subscribers so I have no idea if it is subs my watching my videos or someone else.

Majority of views come from robots, click ads, and malware on people's computers. My subscriber base has no barring on my channel currently which I do not know is a good or bad thing yet.

Nowadays having ranked as high as possible for different search terms is key, I think. It's something like: audience retention * total minutes watched * secret Youtube formula = your video ranking. Thus audience retention and total minutes watched are important.

There is one more point. YouTube tends to asign certain keywords to certain very big channels. In this way basically tehy "control" these search terms. As they have hundreds of thousand dedicated subscribers they can achieve even higher audiance retention times (almost irrelevant of the quality of their movies) which will make them even more promoted by the algorithm. So yes - highly engaged susbscribers kind of still matter.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It totally seems logical, I didn't knew about it because I don't research huge channels. I don't even view them in the first place :).

Maybe they use 2 different algorithms seperatly. When searching, I see a mix of popular vids and vids with good audience retention.
