How Monetization works at all

Many a times when I watch analytics I find good views on the overall basis of a channel but with a less revenue in return.
But when a specific video start getting high amounts of views the returns go up in a steady manner..
As an example If I get a 10,000 view view in a month for a channel the return is 25$. On the other hand when a specific video of that channel starts trending and gets a 10,000 view in a month you could get over 50-60 $.
Has anyone experienced the same.

I could not be 100% right, but what I believe it could be is that as a video gets more coverage, the ads on said video become more valuable. This is because you know for a fact that video will get a large number of views. As such, you see a higher quality of ad and a higher payout because of this.
So for example, a channel releases 10 videos, each at 1000 views. the ad revenue for each ad per 1000 views is £3 (in this example) and so you get £30. However if a video gets 10,000 views, the higher quality ads pay out at £5 per 1,000 views, and as such you earn £50 from that single video.

Thanks Gaffergames for reply...the video keywords sometimes also matter,,, and length of video is also plays a role, lengthier videos have more revenue in return because we can place more amount of adds in between .

I've noticed the same with my videos as well.

When a video is first released, it barely makes anything for me, but, as it gains more views, it continues to earns more and more per view.

I notice the first big jump in earnings around 100k and another if they approach the 1M mark.

My guess is that as more people watch a video, YouTube gets more data about the video's topic and demo beyond just tags. This allows YouTube to sell ads in a more targeted way and therefore receive higher bids. Just a guess though.
