How Many Playlists Should I Have??

I just started using playlists and I'm just wondering how many I should have. I only have 8 videos and have been starting a few new series - each with their own playlist. Do I have to many? Am I cutting myself to thin?
What would be the recommendation for a new channel because I'm concerned to many playlists may seem confusing to viewers. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, keeps things very defined for the viewer.

Hi there. I find Playlists to be helpful, both in organizing my own videos, but also when I'm browsing through other channels looking for a particular subject. I have 30+ playlists, and found you can even compile multiple playlists in categories when customizing your channel homepage.

Some of my playlists get quite a few views like my Fashion one, with 3K+ playlist views. Hope that helps - YT is fun! Enjoy. :)

If you think that people will find it helpful to move from one video in a list to the next, then by all means, set up as many playlists as you'd like. But I'd just say to make a bunch of videos first, then figure out the organization as you go. It takes very little time to add videos to playlists (or to move them from one playlist to another), so you don't have to make up categories with a small amount of videos. And a playlist with 1-2 videos in it isn't too helpful to anyone.

Thanks to both of you for the responses. Don't the playlists automatically play your next video after one is done. What happens at the end of the playlist. Does the viewer get sent to another channel?

I wasn't sure offhand, so went to check, and at least on the Playlist of mine that I tried (using Foxfire), at the end of the playlist the video stopped on a suggested video page. Hope that helps :)

I've wondered too what happens at the end of a playlist. Capturing the end of one of our playlists, I can see 3 of our videos. They are:

1. the hello kitty giant egg which is the highest viewed video on our channel
2. the surprise toys video from the same playlist
3. our last uploaded video, the finding dory giant egg.

The remaining 9 slots are other related videos, some of which I have seen come up in suggested.

So I guess YT is giving the viewer the best choices where to go next, with a few options from the home channel in addition to other highly relevant videos.
