How long do you take?

Well here's the problem, everytime I'm busy designing something for my channel or when my boyfriend is designing, I think we should take hours to make something nice and amazing and mostly we are spending alot of our time to make something or taking photo's.

So i wonder how long do you guys spend on designing tumbnails and stuff? I think the quality and subject of the video is more important and should define a video.

So let me know..
 
Thumbnails take me about 5-10 minutes. I just add text to a funny screenshot from the video. For my banner and icon, took me 6+ hours.

Thumbnails take me 12.6 seconds, I just do a screen grab from whatever video I'm uploading
 
I do not use a lot of time on the thumbnails - I have some templates and stuff, and am pretty fluent in Photoshop :) 5-10 minutes as well, I guess..

Some people follow the 20/80 rule; say it takes an hour to make a PERFECT thumbnail (it cannot get any better). The first 20% of that time is what it takes to make it good (according to the rule), and the last 80% is the time it takes to perfect it - the last 80% is not necessarily well spend time, so a lot of people aims for good (20%), and ignores the last 80% :)

My point here is, that unless it is really important that it is PERFECT, then stop when it is good, so that you do not waste time :p
 
Quite honestly, making the thumbnail is the quickest part for me. Usually a matter of minutes. What takes me longest is editing, which can take me 1-3 hours depending on the video.
 
We are daily vloggers so our thumbnails take... 30 seconds to make. Our banners logos and pictures would take longer but neither of us are "real" designers. I am creative and have taught myself to use photoshop (don't have it at the moment :( though) so the banner took days for me to get right. Would love to make more just haven't got any ideas or the right software yet!

Same here for me, I also don''t have the software yet! The sad part is I studied graphic designing! haha...
 
For me it only takes about 5-20minutes if I don't get distracted but that just a simple and easy thumbnail.
