How long can a video linger around YT Homepage?

After more than 6 days since getting published, one of my videos is still getting "spiked" on YT Homepage, currently getting about 150-200 views per hour. I know that's nothing compared to thousands of views some of you might be getting, but this is the first time one of my vids has gone over 10k views in its first week, so it's uncharted territory for me. I think it has already peaked and is now slowly trickling down to the usual nothingness, but this makes me wonder how long do these "spikes" typically last. Just a week? 2 weeks? A month? No limit?!

Can any of you bigger channels with more experience and data share some thoughts on this? I'm curious.

You should get many more views on yt homepage. Check front page in browser incognito mode

You DO know that YT Homepage is personalized, meaning everybody gets a different set of video recommendations, based on their history and preferences, right?

There's literally NO point checking YT Homepage in incognito mode, that makes zero sense.

I'm not exactly sure and I don't have the answer but I just wanted to say congratulations on the video success!! I checked out your channel a week ago or so and you were at 2.53k subscribers. Keep it up!!

sometimes you can have steady home views that are small every day, sometimes you get the spike as your seeing now.
for the spikes, I've had a look, one had peaked and levelled within 10 days, example:

another only spiked 3 days but had a higher level off afterwards.

youtube will constantly review your video's progress and depending on retention and clickthrough rate, will decide if It wants to show it to more people on home or less, that's usually how I see it going. great job though! getting on home is always a good sign

EDIT: Actually, now Im thinking about it, this makes sense because when your video is within a week of upload it has the "new" tag on it, so thats probably why it gets the extra boost for about a week. hope this helps!

@Lightsen Thanks for the insight! Yeah, the video was still performing well tonight, getting well over 200 views/hour. In total, 22.5k views in 8.5 days, it's a first one like that for me.

However it seems like YT is finally putting a stop on it. It's getting very little views the last few hours. The algo was also simultaneously providing a minor push for one of my other recent videos, that video has been getting 200+ views/day too. I got ~500 new subscribers in just 5 days, more than double what my channel gets in a whole month.

I know you get more views in a day than I get in a month, but for me, this is "THE video" I've been waiting for. Now I need to figure out how to replicate this type of performance on a more regular basis.
