How does your country of origin affect your channel?

The title pretty much says it all. We're from South Africa, and while many people might have heard of it as a nation it ain't the most YouTube forward. Just want to hear your thoughts as a community on the topic?

Australia: slow internet makes uploading during the day near impossible, can barely stream & YouTube prefers to suggest my videos to the US more than my own country which slightly reduces the relatability with potential viewers since I talk about Aussie stuff here and there but luckily not a great deal. I'd say it has some negative effects but at the very least thankfully not so much so that YouTube is still doable.

England, United Kingdom:
Most of my views come from the UK anyways, but that's just because of the nature of our channel :D In terms of upload times etc., it's actually not too bad... I do think that YouTube has its "favourite countries" which it seems to give better service to with reccomendations, promotion etc., like USA, UK, Canada, etc.... So i feel bad for everyone who youtube doesn't give the best possible service to :'(

I'm from the UK, but I live in the north of England, and that's the problem. My accent is kinda horrible, so for my YouTube videos, I've tried to work on it, and give myself a kind of speech therapy.

I live in England, where more than 50% of my views come from. My accent is fairly non-regional I'd say (although my Cockney twang slips out now and again) - about 25% of my views are from the US, and I get a lot of remarks saying they like my accent, which is interesting!

I live in the UK, population is 50 million or something like that, and I think I am doing better here than in the US for example - who seem to watch my videos for the least amount of time. I wish I was more appealing to the people from the US, first off the variety of food that you guys cook, omg. Secondly, there are like 350 million of you, so that's a huge pool of people to draw an audience from.

I think population is something to be considered when you work out who likes you and who doesn't. Bigger the better. Maybe the US is just more demanding in terms of quality, maybe its something else. But if I could fix it so that a large country found me appealing that would be great.

If youtube gets Unblocked in China I would even consider learning Chinese! 1.3 billion potential viewers.

I imagine it would have some effect, yes. There aren't many major Youtubers from my country (Ireland) -- which is surprising as English is generally our first language. In theory, coming from such a small island should make it easier to get trending here, and that might spread to other countries.

I'll find out when I start uploading.

Not sure to be honest, doesn't affect it in a bad way maybe, 51% views are from Croatia, India is 2nd and USA is 3rd. English is not the native language, which means not many Croatians know English

What language is your channel? I would hate to be restricted to a language that wasn't as prolific, I think I would feel trapped by it. Maybe not.
