How does one start to turn YouTube into a career...?

I think what is important when trying to make something as risky as youtube work as a career is to involve other people that are trying to do the same thing. Collaborate with other youtubers that have similar content so that you can get recognised by their fanbase and vis versa, which helps you both out (sharing subscribers). Also you need to be searching youtube, news pages, magazines etc for what people want to see and hear about. makesure the content your uploading isn't just something you wanted to do, it also has to be something that the world wants to see. And you need to act fast, as soon as something gets big you need to get a video up for that ASAP.

I should probably follow my own advice here, i don't do any of this 0.0

I know that in order to turn YouTube into a career you really need to dedicate all of your time and effort into it. Just like any other career. And yes, this is definitely something that I would do on the side for an extra income. I really like the idea of selling merchandise too, like most of the big name YouTubers. I think that's a really cool way to increase your income. And to know that your subscribers are supporting you as a YouTuber. Thanks again everyone!

I like giving real advice so here we go...
-First you need to have HUGE BALLS to tell your parents your doing this for real
- You need to get your ego away and criticize your content as most as u can
-Your opinion on your channel must be backed by analytics, "you average 2 suscribers a day while you upload everyday?" then you are doing something wrong and go back to the drawing board.
-Teach yourself how to use video editing software to their full potential, Sony Vegas, After Effect,etc.
-Get involved with any online courses youtube offer for growing a channel and making better content "I tought they were bs or propaganda, but they are the real deal they do work"
-Read this guy guide yttalk.com/threads/the-small-stay-small-the-big-get-bigger.55288/
-If you ever sign with a network make sure its the right one, lots of big youtubers had to make drastic changes in their lifestyle after being hustled by some bad networks.
-Youtube is a competitive space, dont go to sleep 1-2 months of inactivity will drag you 5-6 months backward

Aight sorry if some of this sounds hard but you need to treat youtube as your business if you do want to live from it. Hope this helped u, btw english is not my main language.
