How does Monetization work?

I've been running ads on my channel for some time now, I'm curious as to how exactly I get paid? Like how much of an ad does someone need to watch for me to get paid? Or do they need to click on it?

Ads work differently. Some work on clicks and others watches. The amount you get per ad is also different. When you accumulate $100 from ads, youtube will send you a check or deposit it to paypal at a certain time of the month.

Google don't pay via PayPal unfortunately.

Can I ask if it's true that enabling ads on your videos is likely to boost view counts? I've read this in a few places and wondered if it;s accurate. I've been holding off on advertising until I've built more of a base.

I'll answer you with a question. Say you own Youtube and you could promote either; A) a video that makes you no money, or B) a video that will bring in lots of money. What would you do? So yes, I believe that ads do increase your visibility in search engines.

Darn it, I guess I did know that really. Just don't want to incovinience viewers. Thanks for the reply.
