How does Amazon Associates work?

Hey

Does anyone know how Amazon Associates works?

I have created an account. Set up links and added shortened URLs the description on my videos.

Clicks are registering in my Amazon account but so far reads no orders/earnings.

I question if I will ever earn anything? I am not linking direct to any item. But rather linking to a search term on Amazon. - So many items are shown..
If the user stays on Amazon from my link / surfs various items and eventually buys. Will I get that trade?

Cheers

Seems I am doing it right as its registered 5 purchases. Unknown profit yet. I think I have to wait until delivered?

You can link to a search term on amazon? Can you explain that in more details?
You get the money once the product got shipped out, doesn't need to be delivered. But when the buyer decides to send the product back they take the money away again from you.
One tip: Put the links into a comment and pin them to the top. That method gives the biggest chance that people notice it. Most people don't check the video description.

Assuming you have joined the associates program -
Go to product Linking > Link to any page > Link to Search Results - Select your product line (Or leave as Any)/Enter Keyword (This is your general search term) and copy the HTML.
From here its standard / IE grab the URL / Use Google URL shortener and add it to your subscription..

Thanks for the tip. Ive set the link into the 2nd line so everyone should see the link. The links totalled 100 clicks yesterday.
Cool - not yet shipped so I guess I will learn of th pennies shortly.

I m pretty sure, that u dont get money for the click , or u get few cents. u gain money when people buy from ur item link ^^

From what I have heard, having external links on your video's is bad for your channel.
Can't think of the terminology but youtube favours channels that keep viewers watching video's, say if they come in to youtube and start by watching your video, and then go to other channels to watch video's, you are considered a seed channel.

If your viewers leave youtube from your video, your considered the terminating channel, for want of a better term.
So youtube penalises you for being the exit, even links to facebook, amazon or wherever.

Youtube favour videos & channels that create binge watching so from what I hear, the few cents made on affiliates means little because you lose algorithm

I set up the Amazon associates a few days ago, I will see how it works. Until now I have only clicks. You earn only if somebody buys the item of course.
@weeben when they click on these links, a new page is popping up so they don`t close the youtube page. It is not few cents, I earn more from affiliate links than from youtube. And it will not be bad for the channel because it actually helps users to buy the product if they want it they don`t need to search for it, they just click and buys it.

[DOUBLEPOST=1505364205,1505364133][/DOUBLEPOST]Humm. Let me know how it goes. I buy a lot off amazon. and review a lot of the products I buy there. Might an alternate revenue stream for me.
