How do you write scripts for videos?

Hello!

I wonder, how other fellow Youtubers are writing their scripts, so maybe I can get few tips from it and improve my skills.
Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas and ways!

I do game reviews so most of my script comes from me playing the game personally.

Also doing research really helps me out.

That's about it honestly :p Besides about a day of brainstorming

A bit of research, personal experience, technical aspects and lots of practise. Also some people like me prefer to keep a constant flow, others split the videos in segments, that's up to you.

Depends what king of script I am writing, a review script I research, get my facts in check and then look at what I am reviewing and go by order of Item, Specs, Cost, Function, if you should get it. For film I write scripts using a screenwriting program, it really just depends what exactly you want to do :)

For my sports news videos. My first step is research and writing quick notes. Then I built my self a basic template and I then transfer the notes into the template and make the script from that.

First I invision what I think the video is going to be like and sound like based on the topic I chose. Then I just begin to rant/write things down sloppily on a word document. Then I open up Audacity a day or so later usually and read over the script one last time. I read parts of the script before I record it, and edit it again for the way it sounds vocalized. Then I begin to record it piece by piece, usually still not following the script exactly and adding and removing parts, doing a lot of retakes, etc.

I tend to write out a bulleted list of the points I want to cover, and then I keep that taped up just off-camera so I can refer to it if I need to, while improvising between each point. I find that if I try to read directly off a script during videos, I sound way too canned and not natural at all.
