How do you promote yourself?

So a lot of traffic is sourced through self-promotion, and I was wondering what you do to get people your way?

i struggle to think of ideas ( apart from making damn good content ) so what are you r secrets and what would you reccomend?

1. Social Media site promotions
2. Multiple Forum usage (YTtalk is not the only platform available but it is the best one) and no, I do not use other YouTube related forums.

Example: You have 100 friends on Facebook, post your link plus a small description such as "Please support my YouTube career by following the link to YouTube, liking and favoriting after you watch the video"
Those 100 friends have yet another 100 friends which in turn have another 100 friends... Multiply that and you will see how a small ripple in your pond can become a huge tidal wave and in return have fun watching your views go up as well as your subscriber base.

If that is not good enough for you, go eat some ham lol

Just on here and Facebook and Twitter, I think Facebook works for those with loads of friends, I wonder if the groups on FB are well maintained by their owners because you could try posting your video on a popular group.
