How do you promote a gaming channel?

Posting Mad!
So I'm not usually the shy type or lacking confidence in what I do, but something about going around and asking people I know in real life to watch my gaming videos makes me feel weird. All the advice on how to grow your channel usually comes down to post it on facebook or twitter. With my gaming videos I sent them out to some of my xbox friends, but I really don't want to be posting that sort of stuff up on my facebook and stuff. I'm wondering what some of the other game channel director might do to promote their videos?

Thanks

I felt like that when i first started doing videos but after a while i just stopped caring and showed them to everyone. And besides if there your friends theyll like your videos reguardless and its just gaming so you shouldnt be too concerned man.

What I do sometimes is I go on xbox live play some games and talk with the people ( make them think I am funny, when I am really not ) then randomly tell them to come check out my stuff ... some people do, others don't.

I have no problem posting up a video of me doing something stupid or embarrassing, but for some reason I get all nervous about posting videos of me playing a game. I don't know if I'm going to anytime soon, but sooner or later I'll probably just say screw it and post them up.

I've actually been doing something similar lately. Since I've been doing a lot of Call of Duty videos I go into gamechat and just casually talk to some people and when I do well they usually ask me some advice that when I point them to my youtube videos.

I'm not successful or experienced by any means, and you may have already done this but just in case...

SEO via title, description, and tags. It's helped me a lot.

SEO = Search Engine Optimized
Thanks, because quite honestly i didn't know what that acronym stood for either lol

And yeah I've been trying to put as much in the tags and description as I can. Its definitely helped my videos get a few more views.

Search Engine Optimization, but yeah, pretty much the same thing.

It's making sure that your title, description, and tags are relevant to your content and include popular search keywords.

I once had a video title that started with "Bear," and the "relevant" videos to the right were not at all germane. SEO also helps with tying in your content with relevant material.
