How do you know if you have dead subs?

i noticed in analytics that i lost 2 subscribers due to closed accounts. but i think dead accounts just means accounts not being used, right? i dont think its really your responsibility to figure out if subscribers accounts are dead and remove them. doesnt youtube automatically do that?
