How do you get paid when signing on with a network?

Nope, it's just an estimation, revenue varies a lot...some views are not monetized. Every thousand views in one video = $4(example)...so if you get $4 for each video every thousand views then you'll be getting $400 and your network will take the cut after a month. This is just an example since revenue varies.

WAIT!
My Playback-Based CPM is $46 does that mean I have over $400 USD???

It means that at the moment on average you are earning 46$ per 1000 Monetized views, the reason its so high is probably because you don't have enough views to get a good average.[DOUBLEPOST=1369051763,1369051709][/DOUBLEPOST]
You get paid whenever you get a monetized view on a video. CPM is just a rough measurement of how much you're earning as a whole (your entire channel) per 1000 views. I think each video has a separate cpm according to yt analytics, but people use overall cpm (of all videos) to get an average of how much they make per 1000 views, but you don't have to reach 1000 views just to get money, again, you are paid for each monetized view.

Not sure if this is what you were asking.

This is a good explanation, people seem to forget that a CPM just measures how much you earn, it doesn't mean you only get paid after every 1000 Monetized views.
