How do you feel about doing Shoutout Vids?

One time I did them often until I found only the trolls were subbing to these nice folks channels, I like the idea of cool people getting their content out there. Do you do shoutout videos if so how often or if you don't why not?

Doing SHOUTouts can be little hard on your throat, I am so funny :) no really I am funny or borderline stupid I guess, I like doing shoutouts there is always people who deserve a shoutout, alot of good people on youtube.

I created one one for Synology (the company) as part of a deal when they gave me an expensive piece of equipment that they wanted me to review.
The deal was they supply me with the unit, worth £500 at the time, for me to create a review and setup guide video for my channel, and in return they wanted to link to the video, while I also had to create a shout out video especially for them, which staying on my main channel page for a few weeks.

I went ahead and created the review, while also creating a 30sec ad for my channel.
People didn't really like the fact that I had a specific shoutout video and I got a few comments like 'so your on their books now' etc.

I've not done a specific shoutout video since then, but I do sometimes do a small 5sec shoutout at the end of my videos for forum sites, if they are relevant to the video. For example, I'm currently working on a review of the GoPro Hero3. At the end I'm giving a shoutout to a pretty large GoPro forum site and in return they are going to let me post my gopro videos on their site in a specifically made sticky. Hopefully it will get me extra views and at the same time I'm referring people who are genuinely interested in the item to the forum site to ask any questions etc on the actual item.
A mutual agreement that works well both ways, and shouldn't upset any viewers, rather help them!

I would say shoutouts are ok, as long as they have some relevance and are helpful to the viewer by providing some additional info.
