How Do you edit using moviemaker

For importing, hit add video or picture. You can decrease the volume by going to music tools and lowering the volume. You can also change the look with color correction presets. If you want to do more, just experiment. That is what I did (I used Movie Maker for a time). I do suggest, though, HitFilm 3 Express. It has a lot more features than Movie Maker.

I used moviemaker before I got premiere pro, and it was really simple to use.
My best tips:
  • BE PATIENT. Movie maker can be slow, and it can be frustrating to wait for it to load
  • USE THE SPLIT TOOL. This will save you so much time.
  • SAVE OFTEN. There's nothing worse than being almost done editing, and loosing all the editing when movie maker inevitably crashes.
ONLY HAVE MOVIE MAKER OPEN. Like I said before. It can be pretty slow, and even slower if you have other things open. It can be annoying to wait while your clips load, and be tempting to start on something else, but just give it time.

I hope these tips are helpful to you. Feel free to message me if you need any more help or run into problems. I may not have all the answers, but I can link you to some videos/ articles that do :)

I always use MovieMaker, but only to cut and edit single clips. This is very simple with the split command.

I rarely use it to stitch together component clips - except when using transitions and adding photos.

I find it much quicker and easier to simply join the numbered clips together at the end with a free program called Free Video Joiner which joins any mix of file types together, and dumps out a compressed end file in any format you choose, ready to upload (usually MP4 or AVI).

It's a really great program.

Doing it this way it's fast to load and make changes to individual clips, and you avoid the crash danger.

Trying to do it all in MovieMaker is a real pain as it is slow with large files.

Use the two programs together and it's a snack.

Cheers Rob
