How do you brainstorm to do a video on a trending topic

I have gone through forums and come up with the fact that it always helps making videos on a recent trending topic... It is like "Strike the hammer when it's hot"

How do you guys brainstorm to get the trending topic inline with your channel theme?
Some examples will be very helpful..

i guess we may have the same type of channel or at least the same idea. I often use google trends to see what is trending at the moment, also look at the news or look at topics that you may find interesting your self and check out websites and social media to see whats trending you will normally see whats trending by the current hash tags.

Some quick suggestions would be
- Rio Olympics.
- Brexit

I dont want to give to much away other wise i wont have any videos to do anymore
