How do I build a soundproof wall I need advice

Chaotic

Posting Mad!
I do lets plays and recently moved into a new house where I rented the third floor. My room is attached to an open area where I keep the htc vive and has a bad echo when I record. I want to build a few mini walls around my computer area and line them with my soundproof acoustic foam. I don't know where to start searching for materials or what would be the cheapest way to get this done. Anyone out there have any links or know what I should do?

Oh, sorry! The build should be pretty straightforward, then. You're basically building a box, right? So you need something to hold it up, and something to attach the soundproofing to. The cheapest thing to build something like this would probably be good old-fashioned wood. If you got some strapping (or maybe something a little more sturdy, depending on how large you want to go) and cut it to size, then build a basic cube around the area, using "feet" (more of the same material, parallel to where it sits on, like the floor or whatever) and then you can attach your foam to that.

If you want something that doesn't go all the way around you, then you're building something akin to a folding screen, so that it could stand on its own. It depends on how sturdy you need it to be, but the same thing basically applies. For something freestanding, you'd just need some plywood and hinges. If it's just a single wall, I'd probably use PVC pipe and fittings to put it together like a big Lego (well, a big round Lego) and then use an awl to poke small holes in your soundproofing and string them together with plastic zip ties and attach them to the PVC.

They are foam panels, but if you don't have enough money for that then use audacity to eliminate the noise. It is pretty good

Wait audacity can do that?? That's what I record with. Teach me senpai
Yea you can. So first you put the audio that you want to fix up in audacity. Then you you select a part of the audio where you are not talking, but you can hear the background noise. After that you go to effects and look for noise reduction. After that you click on get noise profile and you should remove the background noise for that small section you selected. To get the whole thing press command+a to select the whole thing. After that go back to effects and do repeat noise reduction. After that it should be much better.
If you want to check out one of my videos it reduces the noise pretty well. It leaves a bit but removes 95% of it.

Awesome

I've moved this to the Video Editing, Recording, Software and Hardware forum. =)

I know this isn't what you are asking, but a cheap option would be to set up a temporary table in front of (or inside) your closet. ^^ That's where I record all my music lol! Clothing is the best sound insulator. =)
