How do big YouTubers stay safe?

Big YouTubers obviously need a way to protect their account. With one password and a very insecure web, it must be possible for an experienced hacker to hack a very popular YouTube account, and understanding the personality of a hacker, I see no reason why they wont.

Does anybody know how these big YouTubers keep their account secure?

But wouldn't the bestest hackers ever still be able to break through that?
Trust me, any hacker that can bypass a generated code, or remotely receive the code once its generated, would be kidnapped by the secret service before he is logging on to YouTube accounts.

You can only guess wrong a few times before the code resets, so it's not like they'd be able to keep trying different numbers.

Also remember that some of us have direct access to YouTube Staff. If anything goes wrong, we can always call them up and have them take care of it.

I have 2 step verification on mine. If I log in at an unfamiliar computer with my password, I then get a text message with a secondary code.

Yeah, they have two step verification enabled, which makes any password breaking attempts worthless. Anyways, most big youtubers probably have complex PWs which can't be easily broken by rainbow tables or brute force. Most likely vulnerability would be infection.

Though what I find scary is how there's no need for any PW or other sort of verification when deleting a video. An amateur hacker can easily hijack the YT client session of an user on an unsecured network and proceed by for example using a homebrewd macroscript or simply a remote admin tool to procedurely go through every video in their vid manager, deleting the video forever. Going through all will completely ruin the channel's income and practical existance D: I really wish Youtube would add the requirement of entering password when attempting to delete a video.

Which is why you should never ever:
  • Don't be logged into your account while on an unsecured or public, untrustworthy network
  • Don't keep your account logged into a device with no other security, for example a phone without pin
  • Don't perform a login on another person's PC unless you really trust 'em
  • Don't make do-not lists while introducing it what to not to as it causes a double negative and confuzzles everybody, but I don't care.
Same rules apply to anything password protected really. Too many people are stupid when it comes to protecting their sensitive virtual information, such as using the same PW in too many different places. Stay safe!

Here's a lesson for you that can be applied to almost anything in life not just web security: if it can be made, it can be broken. But that being said, you very, very rarely hear of anyone using 2 step verification getting hacked *touch wood* as the effort is pointless. There's usually 2 types of hackers: dickheads & activists. Dickheads usually do it to troll (not so smart hackers) but they can also be the 1s that do it to steal money (slightly smarter), activists are basically advanced dickheads who think they're helping the world when someone takes 1 week leave and decides they finally want to play some online games on PS3 only to find out PSN was taken down and wouldn't be up for a goddamnfkreaingmonthsaoidjwudiwai! That being said, most dickheads won't bother trying too hard to get past the 2 step verification anyways.

That's actually a good idea, I think they should push for something that like, an extra level of security.
