I've Got It
Hi guys I have an old roxio game capture device and wanted to know whats the best way to get better quality from them as i cant afford an elgato or HDPVR yet?

thanks in advance

You can try playing with color correction and upscaling it to HD maybe. IT'll only be a synthetic change, the quality will never actually be better.

Don't upscale. Best advice is to get a border developed. That way you can have a 720p video, even though the video is still lower res, but the rest of the screen has a static border that still looks good.

Most people think static borders are unprofessional, but it will compress the video.

Not sure where you get that idea. Static borders work great for older game consoles that don't have better graphical options. Since he/she cannot increase the graphical fidelity of the recording, they're stuck either with upscaling which will turn the video into complete garbage, or put in something good and high rez to take up the screen space.

If people think a static border is less professional than upscaling SD video to HD resolutions, those people are stupid.

Agree. But I got crap for static borders when I didn't have HD.

Well, when you render a video in Premiere, Vegas or whatever you use, you will want to set the project up in 720p or 1080p resolution.

When you import your roxio video, it won't take up the whole screen. So you'll either end up with just black bars on the sides, or possibly some on the top and bottom as well.

In movie editors you can overlay images or "titles" which are static images that show in the video. So if you know exactly what black space you have to fill and you found someone to do the art you could fill in that black space with artwork of some kind. It could be just a pattern, it could be similar to a youtube channel background, there's all kinds of options.
