How can I put myself in a gaming vid?

So I have been searching through this forum and haven't found the answer. I'm trying to get everything ready for when I start gaming. I have EzVid but alot of people don't like it, and everyone recommends fraps. So with this being said. How would I be able to put a video in the corner. Do i have to make another video with my webcam or camera of me playing and then edit it in, or is there a way to just open camera on my computer and bring it to the front of the games im playing and put it in the corner. I have windows 8. o-o

Using sony vegas you could record normal webcam footage and edit it in using an overlay tut. Just search on youtube 'how to get a picture in a video on vegas pro' and something should come up.

You can do it all at once if you have a strong enough pc. I know you will lose fps if you you web cam and record while you play. You could record yourself with a camera or phone and sync it up with your gaming footage in post production.

I dont think I can with the computer i have now, is a laptop. but it looks like doing it separate would be better. Is there a decent free program i can use to edit it onto the top? Cause i know sony vegas pro looks kinda spendy

You could use your editing software to render out your gaming footage first then import back into movie maker and use the footage of yourself and minimize it to your liking. Will take lil longer to do but its free and it will get the job done.

You can try Windows movie maker or Lightworks

if you can get camtasia it has an option in it's recording software to record your webcam in a corner as well but you can only record screen regions with camtasia so if you were playing pc games, you'd have to play windowed

Okay awesome thats alot less work. Can the window be maximized? cause if so that would work perfect. full screen for the most part bugs me.

I would say do it separate, for one you will have to render the video anyway for the gameplay, but also the box with your image can be distracting while you are actually playing the game
