Highs and Lows of YouTube (bit long)

I've Got It
Hey all just wanted to tell my story and get advice of what you think I should do and if YouTube is even right for me.

So I started my channel in June and it grew very quickly. I ran tournaments for a game called Clash Royale which has a lot of interest on YouTube. People loved them and the live streams is basically all I did. I grew to about 8,8k and then the algorithm change froze me in my tracks. Seemed like less people were being notified when I was going live (even with notifications on) and it just slowed down to the part where it stopped and started going backwards.

The last two months I have put an insane amount of work into my channel trying to fix this issue. I now do daily videos Monday-Friday and live streams on Saturday and Sunday (I feel I need daily videos for this game to keep people interested as it's competitive).

I use to do live streams like 5 times a week now people know to look for me on the weekend and it is doing much better to the point I can gain 100-200 subscribers by the end of the weekend then I am flying high!!! Then comes the lows, during the week I will slowly lose subscribers and at times it speeds up. I may lose 15-20 subscribers a day as I'm posting videos. I have been working on the quality of these videos a lot and I do get ok views. I have been doing this structure for 3 weeks now. Does it just take time when posting videos to grow? All my subs have came from live streams so even though I have 9.1k subscribers I feel like I'm starting over when it comes to the video part.

I'm wondering if I only get subs because they want the tournaments (which I pay for some and sometimes my followers make them) or if they actually like my content. I am happy that I got this far but with having such burst in growth it's so hard to slow down and watch the subs trickle down during the week. Yes, I'm still gaining but if I have a back weekend then I'll have an even larger issue. I know I have some fans but I'm just wondering if I have more people that leave because they are not fans.

I think if people subscribed to your content, whatever you were making at the time is what they enjoyed. So go to your analytics and see your subscriber trends. The most amount of subscribers you got, what videos were you creating that got huge watch time and views? Focus on creating content like that. But also remember, games will lose traction at some point. One day, the games you are playing aren't going to be searched for and your views will drop as well as your subscribers because they don't like that game anymore. So don't be afraid to try different type of games. Don't stick yourself to just one. See what's trending now that you like and make some content on that.
