Learning curve for Premiere is quite a bit steeper since it is one of the industry standards. Rendering on it is a lot quicker though

Those two tools are not going to become handy if you are looking to which one is best, try to make some good effects with the software you like and then your effects are going to become awesome

Both good, although I use Vegas, but lately it crashes a lot for some reason...

i use vegas and it hasn't disappointed me yet, its a great editing software for putting clips together, sorting colour, effects and what not, i'm still learning the ways but its been brilliant so far! for montages, i'm unsure unfortunately!
