Help with lighting

Hi, does anyone know what I can do about night time lighting. So I have these horrible yellow lights in my room (where I record), and because I wear glasses there is this horrible shadow that appears under my glasses. Dies anyone know a light that maybe I can put on my desk to help with the lighting and just remove any shadows? Thanks!!!

Good lighting can't be attained using the usual orange/yellow lights, you'll need a video lighting kit to see anything good - believe me I tried everything else and it didn't work.

Ok thanks for the advice, I'll just have to daytime when I'm recording videos until I sort something out :(.

I'm not sure if you absolutely need glasses to record, so removing them or wearing contacts might help, otherwise, if you have floor standing lights littered throughout the house, you can bring them all into your room and help brighten it all up. Just try to avoid fluorescent ones though as they tend to create 'streaking' effects with the lighting. Otherwise, save up for a LED set of portable lights that clip onto your camera. While these only cost about 30-70 dollars, they are really heavy on batteries, so be careful there. Otherwise, I managed to buy three huge soft boxes from ebay for about 200 dollars which were much more affordable than from my local camera store. Hope this helps :D

A basic softbox lighting kit from ebay is definitely a very good long time investment. I purchased mine around 2 years ago and still use it to this day. With 2 or better even 3 softboxes your lighting should be good in any situation.

Thank you both for your input, I am sorry @Davis Fang for not replying earlier I got busy with stuff and forgot to reply. I will try and have a look for some lights around the house and for the lights you both mentioned on ebay or amazon :).

Another vote for softboxes if you can afford them! Set them up properly and you won't have any problems with shadows and you can film at any time of the day.

Just be careful though, my ones from ebay didn't contain instructions and took me about three hours to assemble :p
