Help Promoting Videos/Getting Views?

I don't get what I've been doing wrong. I post my videos, give it a description and a custom thumbnail, fill it with tags, promote it on my Twitter, share it with my friends, yet it still only gets around 10 views. I see myself slowly but steadily gaining subscribers, but my views never go up. I'd appreciate some help and/or advice.

Same thing happens with my friend, Connor. He makes nearly daily uploads yet hardly pulls in any views. I mean, I make Youtube videos for fun. I enjoy it, I love recording and editing. But it still sucks to see that my efforts go more or less unnoticed.

depending on what your channel is will determine how well it will grow.

(that's not always the case as over-saturation can be a b***h)

What makes you stand out? What can you do to stand out? Is your content just as good as others?

and also you need a good handful of luck.

I wish there was some cool answer to give that could really help but there isn't. You just keep grinding until you slowly but surly get a fanbase or you quit.
 
There really isn't a clear cut answer, you can always experiment with how you do the things you already do to see if you can improve results, but honestly I feel like it just happens on its own.
GrgakGames is right though, make sure you're doing something unique to make yourself stand out that's what people go back too in the end.
 
I've been learning a lot about SEO lately. (Short for Search Engine Optimization).

This phrase is so incredibly important with YouTube, so I'll try to explain it the best way that I can thru what others have taught me. :)

Titles: Make them specific. For example: You have a video/vlog where, in it, you have a buddy that tries running over a frozen lake. The ice cracks, he falls in, and its hilarious. Sooooo, a great title would literally be "Stupid Guy Falls Into Frozen Lake" or something along those lines. Rather than "Vlog #1: Frozen Lakes"

This is because more people search "guys falling into frozen lakes" than they do "frozen lake vlogs". Does this make sense?

Tagging: This is all in the same boat. Avoid short tags. Tag phrases as much as you can rather than singular words. What I do is search certain phrases and see what the top videos are that pop up, and tag according to what those video titles are.

Thumbnails: Keep them relevant to the title. And please god don't cram a bunch of text into a thumbnail because then it looks tacky. Show a thumbnail that displays the theme of the video or what the video is clearly going to be about.

But past SEO, you need to be patient. YouTube is a ladder and its a long one at that. It takes time. :) Subscriber growth is great even though views may not be following right away. Just give it time. Soon you'll notice "Hey! My videos use to get like 10 views, now they get 50!"
