Help No Sound?

You could always use different editing software. The two I would recommend are Camtasia which is pretty simple to use or Sony Vegas 11 (which I use) which is a tad more difficult.
 
I think problem is in computer speed from your explanation. You see after you input video into an editor it is being processed by it (prepared for editing etc.), in my experiance AVI files are insanely large in size which might be the reason of your problem. You should check it with Camtasia studio or Sony vegas if you are not affraid for changes.
 
Just thought I would let you know it was windows movie maker causing the problems. I have gone back to using wondershare which I paid for but as I had a new laptop had to relocate the registration fee. Not the laptop or the speed I have intel5 processor or something (Im not a tech person lol but I know its fast with alot of memory as I have only just bought it).
