Hi everyone,
My audio quality is not terrible, but it could definitely be better. Maybe someone can help drop a little bit of knowledge on me, since the world of equipment can be very confusing!
Originally, I was using a cheap lav mic that plugged into my phone. Then I would download the that audio to my computer, and line it up with my video clips on iMovie. This process took FOREVER. So I opted for a lav mic with a 20ft cable, which plugs directly into my Cannon 60D. This has drastically sped up my editing process because I no longer have to line up the audio with the video, but the sound quality is not great. There's a bit of a hiss, and it gets even worse when I raise my voice, or increase the volume.
I assume my problem is both a cheap microphone, but also that the Cannon is just not built for recording high quality audio, and I might need more (or different) equipment to improve the quality. Someone mentioned at one point on this forum that some acoustic panels might help the sound quality as well, but I have a feeling that's not really the root of the issue.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
