HELP! Camtasia recorder replacer

hey all
so we all know Camtasia right? good editor and good recorder etc but also pretty expensive, roughly 200 euros/dollar.
now i have this problem with a emulator i currently record with the Camtasia trial because Fraps for some reason wouldnt. now camtasia has this very nice little feature where you can select a area on your screen very precisely, im sure who have used it know what i mean. now for the questions:
-why wont Fraps record a gameboy emulator.
-is there another recorder out there that allows you to select your screen like that?

YUP i also use bandicam its a great program you can even see the results on my vids on happy wheels great quality and even better, small files !
