HD PVR or Black Magic?

Hello YTtalk,
I know I have posted lots of threads, but I really want to make the right choice. I was originally thinking of getting an HD PVR. Then I realised that my TV was 1080p and HD PVRs don't support 1080p. After asking around, everyone said that if I got the gaming edition, it would work with my 1080p TV. Is this true? I have 5 component in slots on the back of my TV: 2 for audio (red and white) and the other 3 are red, blue and green. However, I don't use these; I use an HD cable. I'm not sure if this is of any importance. I have three questions:
1) Will the HD PVR gaming edition actually record from my 1080p TV?
2) Is it worth me taking the risk or should I buy a different model?
3) If I should buy a different model, can anyone recommend a capture card that can record from a 1080p TV, works with a Windows 7 Laptop (Dell) and produces roughly the same quality as an HD PVR?

Thank you so much for any help that can be provided.

1) Yes it will.
2) Buy the Hauppage HD PVR Gaming Edition (the one with the green light)
3) A Roxio is 'okay' for roughly half the price but not HD.. Those are the only two to go with in my opinion. Stick with Hauppage for the best quality I reckon; that's what I'm buying in December. :)

nope i recorded my first video within an hour i got it and most of that time was installing the software. It has all the cables with it from ps3 xbox 360 and even the wii

Looks like we all agree! I now announce this thread has an outright solution of: Hauppage HD PVR Gaming Edition. :sneaky2:
