HD PVR Advice

I've Got It
I need some advice on buying an HD PVR. I know the El Gato is nice, but its at the top of my budget. Roxio is alright (I've heard iffy things about it), and Hauppage (I've heard mixed reviews.)

Are there any others that are good? I need it for gaming. I mainly record Call of Duty.

To be fair there are few HD ones that you will get 'cheap'. It's the kind of hardware where you get what you pay for. I have only ever used the Elgato, but the quality is awesome, low file sizes, great stuff. Worth the money.
 
The hauppage and elgato are bought hideously over-priced, the only reason they`re known is because they have big sponsors.

I have the Roxio HD Pro, great device and software.
Another company is AverMedia they also make some nice ones.
 
I use the AVERmedia Game Capture HD, and in my opinion it is really good, but you have to get an HDD storage device in order to record at full quality (since you dont need a pc to record with this one XP)
But yeah the HD PVR is a great choice if you want to record gameplays :D
 
Roxio GameCapture HD would be your best bet for price compared to quality but if you want all the cool features like easy live streaming, live commentary and being able to scrub back through 30 minutes of gameplay then the Elgato HD is the best :) and TBH it is the best anyways.. you should try and get one if you can.. I wish I got one instead of my HDPVR 2 :/

it has no features. at all.
It's got a HDMI input which the old one didn't.. and comes with a really basic editing software that I've never used :')

I don't need the editing software. I won't be using that. I use Premiere and After Effects to edit my clips.
