HD PVR 2 Gamers Edition vs Elgato Game Capture HD?

GamingFD

I've Got It
Hey guys I'm gonna start recording some Xbox gameplay soon and I was wondering what capture device you guys recommend between the two stated in the title? Whats your opinion on the one you have or both? I have been doing some research and so far the elgato is winning, mostly because the HD PVR has a cheap look and feel and is so big while the elgato is small and portable as well as the HD PVR software sucks (or so I've heard)
So what are your opinions and what should I get?

My friend has an Elgato Game Capture Card and he loves it. He says it's simple and really great quality. Also you don't even have to be recording and it will save recent playtime up to a point. Haven't heard much about the HD PVR. :p

HD PVR is definitely better quality than the Elgato. But the Elgato wins in size, quality of exterior, and the total cost. But it is all preference.

I have an HD PVR and it can only record 1080i, which is similar to 720P, since ive used it before I can recommend it but above all else try to get a gaming computer so you can just use things like FRAPS to screen cap, best choice I have made in terms of gaming

Hm, I have an HD PVR 2, and I'm pretty sure I can record in 1080p.

I don't use my HD PVR much, it is nice for streaming my console however. (Granted using an actual PCI card would be much nicer)

I have the Elgato, and I personally love it. The quality issue some people cite can be fixed by adjusting the contrast and brightness. No extra power supply needed, doesn't have erratic issues like the HD PVR 2 allegedly has, doesn't get as hot, slimmer form factor, just all around sexiness ;) Also apparently the software is better, also has integrated Twitch streaming. At the end of the day though, either works, it's personal preference.

How can adjust the contrast and brightness? Will probably go for the elgato

I have seen ton of similar threads on the internet , why can't people understand that Hauppauge,Elgato and Avermedia are identical ?

as YouTube auto-downgrades video quality (to 8.000kbs 30fps i think)

The difference you see on YouTube is color correction not quality xD

So what you gotta look for is extra features (Haupp has rec button, Elgato has rewind etc.)
