I've Got It
WHAT:
Many users are reporting that their YouTube channels have been terminated, often ones which were not even used to upload with. If this applies to you read on. The most commonly quoted reason for this recent and sudden mass termination is as follows:
This account has been suspended due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy against spam, gaming, misleading content, or other Terms of Service violations.
If this ^ looks familiar (ie you see that when you go to your YouTube channel's URL) then you are in good company. There are hundreds affected.
Understand this- Google/YouTube never ever discusses terminations/suspensions on the fora. This means that you will not see announcements per se; only this thread.
This thread being one which I, a fellow user, made to assist those affected in that it demonstrates that you (if you are one of those affected) are not alone and that you (if you are one of those affected) have one recourse- to request a review of Google/YouTube's decision to terminate your YouTube channel. The link for which is on the notification page you land on or in the notification you receive from Google/YouTube AND again at the bottom here (explained in detail for those with Google+ Pages linked).
>>This is now resolved for most users. If not for you- read on<<
WHY:
1. The above message (in red) generally refers to the use of tactics to increase traffic to a YouTube channel (note- this is not to suggest you are guilty- only explaining the meaning of the message seen). This could be the use of third party services to get the owner views or subscribers. Or something far simpler (but absolutely a nono for users)- the use of tags in the description of the video. Either another user will have taken the time to report us OR the system checked and suddenly decided to act. I am thinking that the latter applies to this recent spate of terminations...
2. It could also refer to another channel belonging to the user, or related to them in same way (like when you let your friend/relative use your email address/Google account for their YouTube channel), being terminated and Google having caught up with them, realising that they'd already suspended the user from YouTube for life. Because once a channel is terminated the owner is prohibited from ever having/accessing/creating another YouTube channel:
3. And it might refer to adf•ly links which users had in their video descriptions. These are a serious "nono".
4. OR it can also refer to suspicious activity relating to the YouTube channel's GMail email account. This has, over the years, been a common cause of unexplained channel terminations.
And as stated in the opening- some of us don't even upload at all! So why us? Only Google knows and only Google can address it with users individually/privately.
WHAT NOW:
The ONLY thing you can do is you can use the link in your notice about the inability to access a Google product to request a review. In case you missed it- here is the link to the form again: Request Suspension Review. To do this you need to:
a) Correctly complete the form once, and-
b) wait. Note- waiting times can be HORRENDOUSLY long (possibly due to some users quite literally firing off 100+ of requests) but don't give up.
A video copy and paste on How To fill in the form correctly if you have a Google+ Page linked YouTube channel: (youtube.com/watch?v=AQ05OAONm_4)
