Guilting your audience: Bad habits some Big channels started picking up.

I've Got It
Have you guys noticed since January some of the bigger youtube channels started using their numbers to guilt people to subscribe& set reminders like here is an example:
"It looks like only 40% of my viewers are subscribed & the rest are not, Man, no wonder my channel is not growing. & out of all of you only 30% have notifications turned on. PLEASE turn on your notifications so you won't miss an episode."
And they literally pull the stat to show us. That is an A-Hole thing to do. I am not going to watch your videos because you are trying to guilt me. Not cool. I don't want to mention the channels I saw doing this but one of them is getting saltier & saltier about his growth.
Have you guys come across this behavior?

Yeah I've also noticed a lot of bigger channels pulling out the % of viewers subscribed card to try and get more subs. Tbh I do kind of get why bigger channels would want to keep growing. At that point their channel has become their livelihood so it kinda is important for their income to ensure they keep pushing those numbers etc. but yeah it is kinda annoying.
I still feel like I'm being cringy and annoying when I just ask people to sub if they enjoyed the video xD Sadly things like this do work though so... :/

@PansGaming good, I'm glad others have noticed. It's not so much that they usetheir numbers but in the way they do it. It's like"Why aren't you guys subscribing? Geeze.!"

There is nothing wrong with asking people to subscribe if they like your videos, Hell I do it at the beginning and the end. It's cool. You propose a service in return for subscribing, nothing wrong with that. It's free and us being content creators offer them a service, entertainment and insight.
Thanks for participating in my thread.

Yeah I know there's nothing wrong with it, but I think when I was originally on YouTube back in the day, no-one used to do it so when people started asking for subs and likes and comments it kinda came across as cringy and desperate and I think I'm still in that frame of mind when I say those things in my videos. Even though when I watch other peoples' videos I barely even notice those calls to action any more so I just need to get my head into the right frame of mind :p

People unknowingly do it too. At the most I tell people to enjoy and thanks for watching. At the most if I ask for sub or like you'll see my outro jokingly say 3 words "follow me #$%% " lol. I feel like its more of a reminding though lol

@Fost there is nothing wrong with asking people to subscribe, it's in the way thosepeople did it that can be a turn off for both your current and future subscribers.
Thanks for participating in my thread btw.

I've noticed this too. I honestly can't stand when someone pulls that card. It all comes down to the content you're making. If people aren't subscribing it's because they aren't interested in watching more of your content. It's not a hard concept to understand, yet some people take it as an attack on their channel and content.
