A while back I made an unofficial music video for skrillex's song ragga bomb. I actually made mine before the official music video was released, otherwise I probably would have made an unofficial music video for a different song. I made it because I had always wanted to make a serious music video, and all the bands that had come to me in the past asking me to make them music videos were genre's I wasn't really into like Metal or country. I can't even tell you how much time and effort I put into making this video. It wasn't as good as the official video, but still I was pretty proud of it, and it payed off because I recently had a dubstep artist come to me to make a music video for him. Its been well over a year since I posted this video, and yesterday when I signed into youtube I got an alert saying that the record label for skrillex flagged my video and it was taken down, now I have a copyright strike and a ton of restrictions on my account. I cant upload unlisted videos, or videos longer than 15 minutes... Which is extremely frustrating because I was about to upload a 30 minute short film to my channel and now I have to wait 6 months for the strike to be removed. Its not like I was trying to put ads on the video and make money, it already "matched 3rd party content" when I originally uploaded it and Skrillex's record label put ads on it and they were making money off it. That I completely understand, but the fact that they wanted a video removed that someone else clearly put their own effort into and didn't just reupload the song is infuriating. I searched up the song and there's tons of videos that are literally just reuploads of the song, and someone even reuploaded the origonal music video and just threw in some stupid goat screaming sfx and called it a "goat remix". All those videos are still up yet they takes mine down? SMH
So my point of this post is to ask you guys if you think it would be a good idea for me to appeal this. Last time I appealed some totally ridiculous "inappropriate content" strike because I made a fake vfx knife game song that was obviously fake, I got more restrictions when they denied the appeal.
