Google Adwords- Opinions and Experiences

As the title says, does anyone have any opinions and experiences of and about Google Adwords.
Is it an effective strategy? Does it work? Is it value for money, or a rip off? How much does it cost? Is it better to grow your channel more organically?
So, what do you people think?

I've seen quite a few people grow a LOT from these things. They over serve your advert once they get, so literally your money may be used up within the 1st hour. But that's a good thing because its getting to as many people as possible within your audience. But I don't have much experience in the matter. I haven't been bothered to sit down and fill in the details

They work great for me, but it depends a lot on your content/text/target/thumbnail. I do animations and have a very high retention view rate (average 93% with many videos above 100% view retain). When I first started using adwords, until about a 1000 views the cost was more than the earnings, but after I hit that threshold the revenue has outpaced the cost.

So far my revenue exceeds the cost of the ads per day, so its worth it to have them running around the clock (this isn't total revenue, just revenue generated by ads directly to adwords). I'll drop the budget in January however as ad revenue is gonna drop like a rock.

I think Its illegal to post your personal ad-sense details publicly.....................its against the user-youtube rules..i vaguely remember.
