Good screen recorders?

Right now I have fraps, but its being quite the ram hog and I don't want my first video to be crappy soI was wondering if you guys know of anything that doesn't lag my computer as much?

Bandicam will be easier on your computer, also if you run fraps to an external harddrive or a different harddrive that your operating system isn't running off it'd run a lot smoother.

But it's expensive and is quiet the ram hog itself isnt it?

The only one I can tell you about that's good is DXtory. From what I hear it doesn't take as much CPU as Fraps, but it might still take a good amount.

He means if you record the files to a drive other than the one your OS is on. This way it can dedicate all speeds to writing on drive as opposed to having to read off it at the same time.

I just had it save to a USB and it sped up SO MUCH :O theres still some lag, but thats probably just my computer. thanks to everyone who helped haha

fraps is all I use, the only downside is the big file sizes of the videos it saves.
